The Mass Satellite program has provided me with the opportunity to give back to hockey but also gain an even greater experience through it. Over the past two years I have been fortunate enough to take part in the organization. In this time I have recognized the great commitment to which the Mass Satellite program has dedicated to developing hockey players and coaches throughout the state. They have put together a program that is very successful in taking the time to help kids develop in the necessary areas to become better hockey players. Being from Canada I did not have the opportunity to take part in such a program that focused on the necessary aspects to help player development such as this program does. In Canada the focus was on playing all the time and learning from it, but this program gives an upper hand by taking the time to focus on all the skills necessary to become not only better hockey players but also athletes in general. The off ice program is a great introduction to the younger players to get used to the physical training in which they will encounter, as they get older. This will enable them to move from one level of hockey to the next more smoothly then a person who has not been introduced to such training. They give each player access to the tools they will need to get to the next level while also providing them with a positive and enjoyable atmosphere to train in.

I was also fortunate enough to accompany the 14yr old Mass select team as they went over to Sweden in August 2003. This is a great experience for the players because they get to see a very different style of hockey to which they are accustomed too. Also being away from home and family becomes very valuable because as they move forward in hockey the chances are they will have to get used to the lifestyle that comes along with hockey. It was very interesting to be able to experience the different training and coaching styles of a different country. This is great for furthering the development of Mass hockey players because the program can broadens their knowledge through these experiences and help take hockey player development to the next level.

I have enjoyed my experience with the Mass satellite program over the past two years and look forward to continuing working with them as my hockey career moves on. I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to pursue hockey to a higher level because this program provides all the necessary tools for an individual to be successful in hockey.
